    In the Enterprise IT world, the old adage, “The only thing constant is change” certainly applies.  Our keynote speaker, David Sipes, Global Data Center Manager, is well versed in the constant barrage of changes affecting the convergence of data centers and IT infrastructure.  During his presentation, this 17+ year veteran of Data Center design and management, discussed:

    • Understanding your true data center requirements;
    • The constant tug-of-war between capital & operational budgets;
    • Positioning your strategy to business leadership;
    • Owning vs outsourcing of the data center and related IT infrastructure;
    • Addressing End-of-Life equipment refresh cycles;
    • Agility & Scalability Factors; and a host of other strategic and operational issues.
    Following David's presentation, Chapter President, Michael Siteman announced the winner of the meeting's attendee-only surprise raffle (gift provided collectively by the event sponsors) for an iWatch ~ Carsten Baumann, AFCOM SoCal Board Member !!

    Together with expert facility personnel, Bill Thomas, Quinn Power Systems Application Engineer and Site Event Coordinator, orchestrated an outdoor mission critical equipment viewing + question and answer staging area. Paul Bridges, site Component Recondition Center Manager, and Anthony Hitt, site Technical Coordinator, led event guests on several complimentary back of house tours through the Quinn | Caterpillar facility.

    Our event host graciously served refreshments and an outdoor BBQ dinner (with all the fixings!) in their  paved, outdoor picnic area until after sunset. Networking was ongoing throughout the evening, finding many asking when our hosts would again open their doors for another spectacular Chapter Event! Thank you to all that attended!
